Professional Doula in Guam
Hello. I'm Lori Boss, mother of seven, grandmother of four, and birth doula professional. I believe every birth is it's own unique experience. May I introduce you to EncircleMeDoula.
What Is the Role of a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Doulas serve as a bridge of communication between women and their health care providers, helping them find their voices and advocate for the very best care.
The birth partner's experience matters in birth. Doulas are trained to help your birth partner support you and to be as involved as they'd like with the birth. Physical and emotional support make a huge difference for everyone involved.
The question I get often is, "Do you assist in hospital births?" Yes. We assist wherever and however you desire to deliver. There is no one way to give birth with a doula. My goal is to support you in the way you feel most comfortable, whether that is at home, in a birth center or hospital, with or without medications, or cesarean birth.
Doula's Contribution to Modern Maternity Care
Research shows that women who use a birth doula are:
Less likely to need Pitocin
Less likely to have a cesarean birth
Less likely to use any pain medication
More likely to rate their childbirth experience positively
